From Moday 17th May, all of mainland Scotland with the exception of Glasgow and Moray is moving to Covid Protection Level 2.
Up to six people from three different households will be able to meet in each others’ homes or gardens without physical distancing. This is an accelerated approach – this level of restriction was planned for Level 1. Up to six people from three different households can meet in a pub, café or restaurant; and up to eight people from eight different households can meet outdoors.
For full details of the new restrictions, please see the Scottish Government web pages.
For all the talk about hugging each other, and being able to get a drink in a pub, it is still vitally important that you remain vigilant. We have not yet vaccinated a high enough proportion of the population that we can return to anywhere near normal, so we still need to take sensible precautions:
- Wear a face covering whenever you are near other people.
- Avoid crowded places.
- Clean your hands, hard surfaces, door handles, light switches, taps, anything else that other people might touch.
- Keep two metres distance from people who are not in your bubble.
- Self-isolate and get tested if you have symptoms
Please keep the Protect Scotland app active on your phone, and remember that by keeping yourself safe from infection you are keeping the most vulnerable people in our communities safe from infection.
