Since our last OPAL update at the end of August, we have seen a relaxation of restrictions, followed by another slight tightening of the rules.
We remain at Phase 3 of the routemap for coming out of lockdown where we have been since July, although there are additional local restrictions in place for East Dunbartonshire.
On the ground in East Dunbartonshire, we are working to make the volunteer shopping and prescription delivery service a permanent feature of East Dunbartonshire.
If you live in the G66 area, you can now contact the G66 Covid Response team directly on 0141 280 9527. G66 Covid Response are able to provide shopping, prescription deliveries, buddy and telephone social support, some light gardening, and (Covid19 restrictions permitting) driver support for GP and Hospital appointments.
G66 Covid Response is working with our colleagues at EDVA to become a permanent incorporated organisation – hopefully a SCIO – serving the G66 area. They may have a new name and their own website before too long, so watch this space!
Our colleagues at EDVA are also working with volunteers from other areas, to try and set up permanent organisations to provide a similar service across the rest of East Dunbartonshire. As I said above – watch this space!
In the meantime, OPAL is still able to provide volunteer shopping and prescription delivery across all of East Dunbartonshire, as well as all the usual information and access to other services that we have been providing since 2012. Give OPAL a call on 0141 438 2347 or email us at mail@opaleastdun.org.uk.
